How do we build self-esteem and confident?

Self-esteem is how we value and perceive ourselves. It’s based on our opinions and beliefs about ourselves, which can sometimes feel really difficult to change.

I never realise how low self-esteem I used have. Especially with relationships. When things went wrong I always thought it was my fault and always wonder am I too good or am I too bad, why thing did not work out? And all these things can effect my abilities of living my life, work and socialising. Until one day, actually this year 2019, something has happened unexpectedly, lost my love one, lost my friendships and my love brother suddenly. I could not concentrate, could not work and could not deal with it, I felt like I was underground and would never get up again, but I did with all supports from friends and colleagues. Once I got back above ground, I realised that we only have one life and we don’t know what the future hold and how long we will live and all those feeling down had came from myself. I did not put myself in a good place, did not love myself enough, did not value myself and never be happy with my own company. Once I realise and look at myself and people around me, they can see my value more than I actually see. I thought that was wrong because if we don’t see ourselves worth something nobody see. I start to look at myself, enjoy what I do, balancing my life with work and being my own company. I am now happy enough and I would really like you guys who don’t have confident or low self-esteem start to find yourself and do what make you happy and you will find real happiness in your own soul which is the most important thing you ever wanted. We only live once and once is enough if we live it fulfil. xx

Your self-esteem can affect whether you:

  • like and value yourself as a person
  • are able to make decisions and assert yourself
  • recognise your strengths and positives
  • feel able to try new or difficult things
  • show kindness towards yourself
  • move past mistakes without blaming yourself unfairly
  • take the time you need for yourself
  • believe you matter and are good enough
  • believe you deserve happiness.
